SUCCESSFUL SONGWRITER
One of my good friends from camp, Jason, lives in New York and is a moderately successful songwriter. I really admire him, because there was a time where it really did not look like he was going to make anything of himself in music. He went to New York University and was in their Tisch School of Arts. He tried to become a songwriter right after he graduated, and did not really make anything of it. He ended up going to law school and working for a lawyer who gave Brooklyn Chapter 13 advice. He worked with that attorney for a little over a year before decided that he hated that job, and that his true love and passion really was music. He quit, and began writing songs again. One night he was at a club, and really fell in love with the girl that was singing on stage. He sat there in the club and wrote down some lyrics as he sat and listened to her sing. When the show was over he approached her, and told her how much he had enjoyed the show. He handed her the lyrics with his business card, thinking he would never hear from her again. A few days later he got a call from her saying she really liked the song, and she wanted to hear what she had done with it. Now the song is in regular rotation, with it’s video playing on VH1.
