NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET

Legal work seems to run in my family.  A few of my cousins and uncles became bankruptcy lawyers, while a few others became personal injury attorneys.  My grandfather became a public defender and my older brother works in international law.  However, my father never went to law school.  In fact, he never even attended college.  Instead, he went into trade school and became a stationary engineer.  Some people call a stationary engineer a glorified janitor.  It’s the job Freddy Kruger from Nightmare on Elm Street had before he became a supernatural serial killer who stalks the dreams of teenagers.  Back in the day, a stationary engineer worked in a boiler room and checked all the gauges and pressure valves and all that.  These days, he does the same thing except it’s all mostly on computer.  Plus, there’s a little bit of upkeep to the job, like fixing lights and air conditioners and such, all depending on where you work.  It’s basically a trade and why my father went into that I can’t tell you.  He’s as articulate a speaker as you’ll ever meet and a thorough problem solver.  He could probably have become anything he truly put his mind to.  They get along, but I wouldn’t be shocked to learn something happened between my father and grandfather that caused my dad to go into a trade.
